The River 03:18
There’s a girl I wish I knew better Spends her Spring growing sunflowers Summer comes, she gives them away Knows she can always grow them back again There’s a conversation she’s tried To keep in the forefront of my mind Saying ‘Hard rain doesn’t mean the clouds will stay’ Says I don’t listen much anyway // I don’t listen much anyway See the water Feel the wind blow The river never flows too slow We go down to the forest When everybody else is asleep Lay low between the evergreens Pine needles beneath our feet There’s a road It winds round the coast And a bridge out to the islands Hoped we’d end the year out here The moon so near. Guess there’s always next year. There’s always next year See the water Feel the wind blow The river never flows too slow Saying hard rain doesn’t mean the clouds will stay

Honey Dew 03:32
I was alone when the light of the moon said ‘Maybe you should build a road’ Raised my shovel through the night to the dawn Knew I should work until the dirt was gone Prayed my thoughts they’d rest a while Still they drift - like smoke - to a golden smile Sure as rivers run they run. She’s come round in a silk-white gown Trying to draw my eyes away She’s come round in a silk-white gown She’s trying to close them Sing a sweet tune Sweet as honey-dew Someday the song’s gonna turn my head but not today Bathed in peach lamp light I sat down to write A novel or a poem or two Words as fresh as February dew But she’s twirling around the edge of my room Humming her golden tune I hum along for a moment For a moment I wanted to. When a thirst came on I went to her place just for one. Life’s a faded book She makes it look like the sun in June. Like Hollywood. I want to swim in her river. I want to swim in her river just one more time. One more time Every day until I die.

Cold Clay 02:57
I started northward before the rooster’s crow Clouds above Dirt below. Turning soil for nothing to grow Wishing on some sunlit grove Days crawl on slow as January snow Drifting deep against the bend Still, seasons turn sure as river-water flows You’ll drown in the flood trying to see the end Spend all your wages just to feel something This stone isn’t diamond, it’s cold clay In the morning work starts again. This stone isn’t diamond, it’s cold clay. An old friend called past before the end of day. Half-set sun Half-poured liquor. She said ‘You don’t know your best days until they drift away A grey glow in a dirty mirror’ Lay your head down Sky of cherry plum Wild geese flying low Do you think they whisper of how far they’ve come? How far they’ve still to go?

The sun has fickle mind, a more fickle mind than me Maybe someday I’ll head away ‘till the sand parts from the sea. Dreaming of my true love, should I find the time. Oh the sun has a fickle mind, a fickle mind. If I had a guitar string I’d play it endlessly Singing of my baby, lips of sweet cherry. Sing in the Summer, Winter into Spring. Oh if I had a guitar string, a guitar string. If I had a golden thread I’d sew my love to me. Soon I’d miss the distance we used to hold between. Drift asleep beside her, wishing on an empty bed. Oh If I had a golden thread, a golden thread. Make me a boat of elm and I’ll row myself to sea. Soon I’d miss the anchor that never let me leave Thinking on my darling, lonesome at the helm. Oh make me a boat of elm, a boat of elm. Fly me to a foreign land for the two of us to meet. Sun that hugs the ocean, bright as silken sheets. In time I’ll pine for winter, snowflakes on my palm. Fly me to a foreign land, a foreign land. When I’m done with wandering, whenever that may be Could I look behind me to see you didn’t leave? Will the breeze dance through me, cold across my skin? When I’m done with wandering.

about

This is our new album - The Light of The Moon!

Written and recorded over the course of 2020, this album is made up entirely of our own original material. We set out to create a record that was distinctly 'Gnoss'. Using the techniques available to us as a group to create a unique sound, not only by writing the album with all original material but also looking at how we could use the sonic textures of our instruments to make a blend that was more distinctive that what we had done before.

The album was recorded and co-produced by Scott Wood (Skerryvore) at Oak Ridge Studios in Glasgow before being mastered by Alan Douches in the US. The photography, artwork and layout was created by Elly Lucas and the physical albums were manufactured in the EU by Birnam CD.

We couldn’t do what we do without the support of everyone we’ve met on our way, so if you have ever hosted us while on the road, provided a welcome meal, welcomed us to your venue, worked on our sound or lights or have come for a chat at the famous CD table, thank you. We’re very excited to see you soon.
