about

THE DROVERS - Connor Sinclair

The Perthshire market town of Crieff - where Connor grew up - was, at one time, the financial capital of Scotland. The Drovers used to bring over 30,000 black cattle to Crieff for market in October, some travelling from as far as Caithness (over 200 miles to the North).

When the cattle boom ended, many of these Drovers - skilled at controlling animals on horseback - moved to the The New World and became some of the forefathers of cowboys in The Wild West.

Scotland’s landscape today is haunted by a vast network of disused routes between Highland and Lowland — a spiderweb woven by a long-vanished trade, used only by those who know where to look.
